No Time to Workout? Think again and try HIIT

Being a busy woman is by no means a walk in the park. Not only do you have your ever expanding career to manage, family commitments and thrown in for good measure, YOURSELF.

You understand how important it is to fit in your weekly workouts but sometimes do you sit back and think I really don’t have time for this?

No problem, help is at hand in the form of High Intensity Interval Training (HIIT). If you’re looking for a fast and effective cardio workout then HIIT is definitely for you.

What is HIIT and how does it work?

HIIT is performing quick short bursts of exercise followed by a slow recovery period, for example:

20 seconds of all out sprinting followed by 40 seconds of a slow recovery walk. Repeat this fifteen times and there you have a quick and highly effective workout.

This form of training can be completed in 20 minutes or LESS and anywhere, anytime. Not only that, it’s a fantastic workout to burn excess body fat. It really doesn’t matter what fitness level you are, this form of training can be done by a beginner or a long term veteran of exercise.

How does HIIT work?

When conventional long cardio is performed you burn body fat for as long as you are doing the workout, whether that be running, cycling, rowing but with HIIT you will continue to burn body fat for up to 24 hours after you have stopped working out.

Imagine sitting at your desk later in the day and your body is still burning body fat. That’s definitely worth a quick 15/20 minutes of your day right?

As with any form of exercise you don’t have to belong to a gym to reap the benefits. My personal favourite HITT workout is hill sprints. You can also try HIIT using a stationary bike, rowing machine or cross trainer, the list is endless.

So if you’re spending far too much time doing long boring cardio or perhaps you really can’t find time to workout then High Intensity Interval Training is a must for you.

Living a fit and healthy lifestyle is so important because if you’re healthy then you can contribute so much more to every aspect of your busy life. Feeling physically fit enables you to take on anything life has to throw at you.
