Did you know women feel most attractive at age 32? Psychologist Sandra Wheatley says it is because “feeling beautiful is tied in with confidence and life experience.” I’m not 32 yet but as I get older I feel more attractive because a) I am more confident and more comfortable in my skin, b) I feel more successful, and c) I can afford nicer clothes. Yes, having nice clothes makes me feel better about myself! The clothes we wear may not define us but they certainly have the power to make us feel more confident and powerful. As I get older I value quality items more than quantity to choose from. I find myself buying more timeless pieces that I think I will love and wear for years to come rather than spending money on the latest trends. These are some of my wardrobe must-haves:

If you want to splurge on a business suit or dress, grey is a good color choice because it goes with so many things. Avoid looking dull by pairing grey with pops of color.

Wearing a trench always makes you look put together and stylish.

A classic trench dress is something I wear on “casual” days at the office. This dress will flatter most body types:

Every woman needs a few “power red” pieces. If red is not your color, incorporate red pumps or a red skirt into your wardrobe. Nothing screams “I’m taking on the world” like this outfit:

And if you love red…

Black and white are always fashionable. You will look like you just got off a plane from the Hamptons in this outfit:

Another black and white option; this outfit is très chic yet professional:

Four absolute essentials for a businesswoman’s wardrobe are a fitted blazer, dress, and briefcase -all in black. Just don’t wear them all at the same time.
