When did you start your business?
I started working on my business July of 2007. I officially opened my doors in April of 2008.
What did you do prior to starting your business?
I have been a Stay-At-Home Mom since 1997 when my second daughter was born. It was a hard decision financially, but my husband and I both agreed it was the best thing for our children. It was very important to us to keep them out of the daycare system. Soon after that, our last daughter was born. I must add, it was hard mentally too because I have always worked and felt very guilty about not contributing financially to our growing family. But I soon gave in and fell in love with spending so much time with my children, loving and learning from them. If I had to do it all over again, I wouldn’t change a thing! Previous to staying home, I worked as a Secretary, a Customer Service Rep, then in Accounts Receivable as a Collections Representative. It was once my last daughter began school that I decided I better do something else with my time here at home besides clean all day
What is a day like “in your heels?”
Well, it’s not very glamorous at all, in fact.. have you seen the commercial where the girl goes to school in her PJ’s because she goes to school online? Well that’s me most days! When the girls are in school, I start work at about 8:30. I get lost in my work so most days I forget about lunch and work on until about 2:30ish. Between those times I also try to get the house picked up, laundry done and can’t forget about getting groceries and necessities! At 3:00 I pick up my girls from school. From there, I only work a little here and there depending on the girls’ homework load, activities, etc. I really try not to work on the weekends. During the summer months my schedule is very off and on. This past summer was hard; I wanted to do more, but so did my girls.
What has been the biggest challenge you’ve faced as an entrepreneuse?
Creating my own website to my satisfaction. I was my own hardest client! It will always be a work in progress as I am a bit of a perfectionist but I think I can live with this design for a while.
Outside of business, what are your passions and hobbies?
My passion is my family. My hobby WAS learning digital designing and digital graphics, it still is. I decided to put my hobby to work and took several online HTML/CSS and Web Designing Classes. I turned my hobby into a business.. how cool is that?
It sounds like you really love what you do! Do you have a favorite quote or personal motto that you live by?
My personal motto is this: Love all people, be kind to all people, respect all people. Give this and you shall get back tri-fold.
What is your top goal for your business right now?
My number one goal is to provide professional, courteous and personable web service at the most affordable prices. I treat each customer’s site or blog as if it were my own.
What is your favorite pair of heels (or shoes)?
Do they make fuzzy slippers in heels? I guess they do, but I wear the flat variety! My favorite pair of “heels” are my wedge Sandals… they’re comfy and quick to put on and go, go, GO!
